The EBM uses On Demand Book’s proprietary software which can retrieve and encrypt digital or scanned files, covert them to high quality print ready format and transmit them to the EBM at a location of choice to produce a book in any language. The software brings together content repositories (collections of texts in electronic formats), web-based points of sale, index and search systems and the physical locations where EBMs are located. All interaction with the EBM is performed via a standard browser.

Generally, PDF files are the recommended file format for both the cover and book block. Though a generic cover is available actual covers are preferred.
