Self-Publishing on the Espresso Book Machine®

What You Need to Get Started:
Espresso Book Self-Publishing Once you have finished writing your book and wish to start printing, simply provide us with two print-ready PDFs, one for the interior pages and one for the cover. Sending them via email is best, but other methods of transfer (online file-sharing sites, FTP, thumb drives or CDs) may be available depending on the EBM location you have chosen to work with. Once you have given us your PDFs, the next step is to meet with our onsite EBM Consultant to discuss which set-up options work best for your project. You can do this in person or over the phone, but we strongly recommend the former: up-front personal consultation helps to ensure that your initial print-run is successful the first time. Once your files are complete, the EBM will print, bind, and trim your perfect-bound paperback book - in any language, with a full-color cover - at the push of a button, in a matter of minutes.

Get Discovered through the EBM The Espresso Book Machine is a groundbreaking opportunity for all authors to share their work with the world. Toward that end, many EBM locations offer book production capabilities that go beyond simple printing services - from publishing packages to a full suite of editorial, design, layout, formatting and a la carte services. This includes e-book conversions, ISBN, Copyright, and Library of Congress registration, to name just a few. Whatever your needs, an EBM consultant is ready to assist you in preparing your book for its proper debut.
A library or bookstore exists to help readers connect with the books they want, and now, with our Espresso Book Machine (EBM), we're eager to help authors connect their works with others. This is your opportunity to turn your novel, poetry, journal, family history, or even your collection of family recipes, into actual, beautiful, readable objects. The EBM will transform your work into a paperback book complete with a full color cover and a black and white interior, indistinguishable from books produced by traditional publishers.

Books on Demand
There are no minimum print runs, so you can print as many or as few copies of your book as you want, when you want. You can even print a work-in-progress, uploading revised files and printing new versions at any time. You can offer your book for sale or keep it private (printable only by you) - whichever best suits your project. And if you do choose to make your book available for sale, you retain all rights to your work and are responsible for setting your own retail price.

The EBM's EspressNet®
For many authors, printing a book is only the first step. Now you can also make your book available on any other Espresso Book Machine worldwide. The EBM's EspressNet makes it possible for your book to be accessible to anyone interested in your work but who happens to live in another state or even another country. Our EspressNet program is included as part of our Standard Self-Publishing Set-Up. Should you elect to sell your work over EspressNet, all sales are tracked and payment flows back to you, the author, consistent with the consignment program offered by your EBM location.

EBM Shelves Program
Books on Demand
EBM books on display at a library or bookstore are offered for sale as part of the EBM Shelves program (available at select locations). You set the retail price of your book and retain all rights to your work. You prepay the print cost, and when your book sells you receive the full retail amount less a consignment fee per copy.

Your readers can also order your book online and the EBM location will print copies on demand to fill their orders. For each book sold, the EBM location will retain an amount to cover print costs plus the consignment fee (varies by location) and remit the balance back to you.
