Jason Epstein, Chairman.
Mr. Epstein’s 50 year distinguished career in publishing, which includes among other accomplishments, serving as Editorial Director of Random House, co-founder of the New York Review of Books, creator of Anchor Books, which launched the paperback revolution, founder of the Library of America and of the Readers Catalog, the precursor to online bookselling. Mr. Epstein has received many honors. He was the first recipient of the National Book Award for distinguished contribution to American Letters, and also received the Curtis Benjamin Award of the American Association of Publishers for inventing new kinds of publishing. In 2001, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award of the National Books Critics Circle for creative publishing.
Dane Neller, Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Neller has extensive operating experience in the retail sector as former President and CEO of Dean & Deluca for over 8 years. Under Mr. Neller’s leadership, Dean & Deluca experienced substantial increases in sales and profitability and became a premier multi-channel specialty food brand with international brand recognition. Prior to Dean & Deluca, Mr. Neller held various positions in private equity and investment banking, beginning his career at Morgan Stanley & Co. Inc. in 1984. He graduated from Yale University in 1979 (B.A.), 1980 (M.A.) and Yale Law School in 1984 (J.D.). Mr. Neller was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1985.
Thor Sigvaldason, Chief Technology Officer.
Mr. Sigvaldason has been with ODB since inception and formerly worked in an advanced technology group within the management consulting practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has been working with computers for over 30 years in a variety of disciplines and industries. He holds degrees in Economics.
Andrew Pate, Senior Vice President, Business Development.
Mr. Pate is a veteran in Book Publishing with a focus on new technologies. He previously was Senior VP Global Operations at Lulu.com - the leading web based publishing platform, and VP Business Development at Lightning Source. Prior to that he was Exec VP and COO at Rutledge Hill Press, successfully transitioning that general trade publisher to become part of Thomas Nelson. It was there that he first incorporated the very early print on demand capabilities as an inventory solution. From there he has been a key proponent of technologies enabling the exploding self publishing and web based publishing markets. He has given talks worldwide on the subject of "The Convergence of Technology and Intellectual Property". Andrew has an BA from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Xavier University.
